Guess what was waiting for us this evening?

We thought about Frankie so much today. It’s weird having part of your family not with you on Christmas day. Today was a first for me. The whole day was wonderful and intentional with family and times of giving but all day long… something was missing. My mom gives the kids Christmas ornaments every year that has special meaning. And Frankie started his collection today to one day take to his home and his family when he is older.

And with that she gave him a letter….
I know you can’t be with us this Christmas but we BELIEVE you are ours. So like my other grandchildren I will give you a letter and ornament each year. By the time you are old enough to start a home of your own you will have a tree full of ornaments to remind you of your Nana.
This year I chose a simple ornament with a single word on it. BELIEVE. Certainly this word sums up your journey into our family this year. You have a mom and dad who BELIEVE that they are to extend their family through adoption. They BELIEVE that you are the one who is to join our family. We BELIEVE that God will protect and keep you safe until we can bring you to the states. We BELIEVE that God will continue to send little ambassadors of blessing from the states to touch your life until we bring you home.
Frankie, this ornament holds another meaning . You see this year we elected our first African American President. When this was announced, I immediately thought of you. Tears began to roll down my face as I realized that I would be able to look my first Grandson in teh eyes and say with pride, Frankie, dream big, because you can truly become anything you want to be. BELIEVE.

I love this! I love the ornament and the letter.
YES we are believing that all of our kids will be coming home!
Wow, what a beautiful post. How wonderful for Frankie’s grandma to start this tradition for him before he gets home. It will mean so much to him when he is older.
